PH Extends Humanitarian Assistance to Vanuatu’s Earthquake Recovery and Rehabilitation Efforts

CANBERRA 23 June 2025 — Philippine Ambassador to Australia Antonio A. Morales turned over to High Commissioner of the Republic of Vanuatu in Australia Samson Vilvil Fare on 19 June 2025 the contribution of the Philippines to Vanuatu’s recovery and rehabilitation efforts in response to the severe and extensive damage from the earthquake that struck Vanuatu in December 2024.
The earthquake displaced almost 3,000 people and affected more than 17,000 households. There was widespread damage to infrastructure as well as to essential services, including telecommunications, electricity and water networks. The contribution of the Government of the Philippines to Vanuatu in the amount of US$100,000 represents the solidarity of the Filipino people with the people of Vanuatu as they work together towards recovery and rehabilitation.
