PH Ambassador Meets with Saudi Arabia Human Rights Commission President; Forges Deeper Bonds through Commitments to Protect Human Rights

RIYADH 25 January 2025 — Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Raymond R. Balatbat met with the President of the Human Rights Commission (HRC) of Saudi Arabia Dr. Hala Bint Mazyad Altuwaijri, to discuss continuous collaboration in combating human trafficking and addressing other human rights issues to benefit all Filipinos in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 22 June 2025.
The Saudi HRC aims to protect and promote human rights in accordance with international human rights standards and help ensure its implementation in light of Shari’a Law.
Remarking on the deep bonds of familiarity between Filipinos and Saudi citizens, the Ambassador expressed appreciation for the Kingdom’s cultural integration activities and its efforts to expand the labor reform initiative to include domestic workers. Meanwhile, Dr. Altuwaijri noted the OFWs’ significant contribution to Saudi economic growth and committed to continue striving to take care of all migrant workers in Saudi Arabia. END
