PH Ambassador to Thailand, Thai Minister of Commerce Eye Stronger Trade and Economic Ties

BANGKOK 26 June 2025 — Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Millicent Cruz Paredes and the Minister of Commerce of Thailand, Mr. Pichai Naripthaphan, met on 09 June 2025, and reaffirmed their commitment to deepen economic ties and trade relations between the Philippines and Thailand amid global trade challenges and emerging economic trends.
Ambassador Paredes underscored the Philippine Government’s strong interest in exploring new areas of cooperation with Thailand, including artificial intelligence, renewable energy, smart technology, MSMEs, food security and halal products.
Minister Pichai emphasized the importance of working with ASEAN neighbors and strengthening the regional market as a unified economic bloc to navigate global challenges.
The Ambassador agreed with Minister Pichai on the importance of continued engagement with ASEAN neighbors to strategically manage economic uncertainties and challenges. She likewise expressed hope for Thailand’s support for the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairship in 2026.
In closing, the Ambassador thanked the Minister and his team for reaffirming their support in pursuing collaborative activities in areas of mutual interest and benefit for the Philippines and Thailand. END
