Ambassador Leo M. Herrera-Lim, Consul Anne Kristine D. Salvador, MWO-London officials, the consular team, and members of the Filipino community in Nuuk, Greenland
COPENHAGEN 03 July 2025 — The Philippine Embassy in Denmark, in cooperation with MWO-London and the Filipino Community in Greenland, successfully conducted a consular outreach program on 28 June 2025 at Krist Konge Kirke in Nuuk. As of June 2025, there are 1,110 Filipino nationals in Greenland, with 695 residing in the capital; the Filipinos are the biggest non-Greenlandic/non-Danish community in this territory with a population of about 57,000.
A total of 144 services were rendered, including the processing of 37 passport applications, two travel documents, 12 civil registry applications, 23 notarials, 23 consultations on various matters, 20 employment contract registrations, and 27 OWWA membership applications/renewals.
Members of the Filipino community in Nuuk assisted the consular team in the provision of the venue and other logistical support. They expressed their appreciation for the conduct of the outreach program and welcomed the Embassy’s efforts in bringing government services closer to them.
Greenland, the world’s largest island located in the North Atlantic Ocean, is an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. Even though approximately 80% of it is permanently covered in ice, the majority of the Filipinos in the island work in the service industry as cooks, waitresses, hoteliers, and cleaning personnel. END.
