PH Ambassador Presents Credentials to Lao President

VIENTIANE 08 July 2025 — Philippine Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Elizabeth T. Te presented her letter of credence to Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith on 02 July 2025 at the Hor Kham (Presidential Palace) in Vientiane.
In welcoming the new Ambassador, President Thongloun highlighted the longstanding and cordial bilateral relations of the Philippines and Lao PDR, which marks its 70th anniversary this year. He highlighted the strong cultural and people-to-people ties of the Filipino and Lao peoples, and encouraged deepening the countries’ cooperation, including in trade and investment, tourism, education, and cultural exchanges. He urged both sides to maintain high-level visits and to continually bridge the governments and peoples of Laos and the Philippines together.
Ambassador Te congratulated the Lao PDR in its several successes including its ASEAN chairship in 2024, progress made in the 9th National Socio-Economic Development Plan (NSEDP) 2021-2025 and the preparations for the 10th NSEDP 2026-2030, and its triple milestone commemoration this year of the 70th founding anniversary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), the 50th anniversary of the Lao PDR, and 105th birth anniversary of Laos’ founding father and former President, Kaysone Phomvihane.
Ambassador Te expressed commitment to deepen cooperation and explore further opportunities for cooperation in defense and security, trade and investments, digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, clean energy, education, among others.
Both also discussed the contributions of the Filipino community in the Lao PDR in various fields, including education, engineering, and hospitality and services.
