VIENNA 10 July 2025 — The Philippine Madrigal Singers enchanted a full-capacity audience at the Brahms Hall last 03 July 2025 with a 75-minute repertoire of melodies from around the world, showcasing Filipino excellence in choral music. The concert was organized by the Philippine Embassy and was held at the Musikverein, known for its exceptional acoustics and regarded as one of the finest concert halls in the world.

The concert, titled “A World of Melodies,” featured songs in various languages including Latin pieces, “O Sacrum Convivium” and “Sanctum,” German songs, “Wohlauf ihr Gäste” and “Du bist wie eine Blume,” French songs, “Comme d’Habitude” and “Dessus le marché d’Arras,” a medley of songs from India, as well as English and Filipino love, pop, and folk tunes. Filipino pieces, “Leron, Leron Sinta,” “Alitaptap,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika,” “Gaano ko Ikaw Kamahal,” and “Paraiso” were part of the concert repertoire. The Madrigals’ powerful rendition of “Circle of Life” was a crowd favorite, earning enthusiastic applause.

“Thank you to my distinguished colleagues and Excellencies who are here. I hope that the experts from different Embassies and Permanent Missions set aside their negotiations and enjoy the night. For the Filipino community, this is our gift to you. One night to be proud of another one of our very, very best that we offer to the world,” said Philippine Ambassador to Austria, Evangelina A. Bernas. Ambassador Bernas said that the concert was organized to showcase the best of Filipino musicality and to thank around 600 guests for their continued support for the endeavors of the Philippine Embassy and Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Vienna. She also highlighted the event as an opportunity to personally connect outside of work, especially for the diplomatic corps who work with each other in intensive negotiations at the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna.

Distinguished guests included the Ambassadors of Kenya, Finland, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Honduras, Panama, and Costa Rica, other members of the diplomatic corps, Austrian government officials, senior UN officials, and members of the business community and Filipino diaspora. The event served as a celebration of Philippine musical excellence and pride, and a testament to the power of music in fostering understanding and peace. END
