The Palace of Serbia, located in the New Belgrade district, stands as one of the country's most iconic government buildings. Notably, it was the site of the inaugural Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in 1961, a milestone in global multilateral diplomacy. The Philippines is a member of NAM.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Algabre conveyed the warm greetings of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to President Vučić, as well as the best wishes of the people and government of the Philippines to the people and government of Serbia. She expressed the Philippines’ strong commitment to deepen cooperation with Serbia. In turn, President Vučić affirmed that the Philippines is an important partner for Serbia and conveyed readiness to further strengthen relations between the two countries. Ambassador Algabre was among the eight non-resident Ambassadors who presented their credentials that day.
Following the presentation ceremony, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a cultural program for the visiting Ambassadors, which included visits to the Temple of Saint Sava—one of the world’s largest Orthodox churches and a symbol of Serbian religious heritage. The non-resident Ambassadors also visited the Museum of Yugoslavia, which offered a rich insight into the social, political, and cultural legacy of the former Yugoslavia, as well as the life of Yugoslav President Josip broz Tito.
The day concluded with a dinner hosted by Foreign Minister Marko Đurić in honor of the newly accredited non-resident ambassadors.
While in Belgrade, Ambassador Algabre was joined by First Secretary Ria E. Gorospe and Attaché Sheridan B. Sabeniano. She also held meetings with key officials from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and engaged with members of the Filipino community, together with Philippine Honorary Consul to Serbia, Ms. Dragijana Radonjić Petrović.
This visit underscores the Philippines’ continued commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and engaging in concrete partnership with the Republic of Serbia. END
