Philippine Ambassador Presents Credentials as First Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of North Macedonia

ATHENS 14 July 2025 — Philippine Ambassador to North Macedonia Giovanni E. Palec formally presented his letters of credence to President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova of the Republic of North Macedonia, marking the commencement of his role as the first ambassador (non-resident) of the Republic of the Philippines to the Republic of North Macedonia. The ceremony was held at the Presidential Office, Vila Vodno on 07 July 2025.

In his remarks, Ambassador Palec conveyed the warm greetings of Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova and the people of the Republic of North Macedonia.  He said that he is deeply honored to assume his post and expressed optimism that the diplomatic relations between the two countries, which are founded on shared values and principles, will grow and prosper with opportunities for close cooperation in various fields.

President Siljanovska-Davkova warmly welcomed Ambassador Palec and affirmed her country and government’s commitment to fostering ties with the Philippines.  She acknowledged the significance of this diplomatic milestone and expressed interest in exploring opportunities to deepen bilateral relations especially in developing cultural ties, scientific and educational exchange, tourism and trade.

A private meeting followed the ceremony, during which President Siljanovska-Davkova and Ambassador Palec engaged in a fruitful and substantive discussion on various aspects of bilateral relations, regional developments, and opportunities for future cooperation.

Ambassador Palec was joined during the ceremony by his spouse, Mrs. Novelyn Palec, First Secretary Therese R. Cantada and Attaché Delano B. Munar.

The Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of North Macedonia established formal relations on 22 September 2021. Ambassador Palec’s appointment represents a key step forward in expanding engagement and partnership between the two nations. END
