Philippine Consulate General Meet with Northwest ICE Processing Center Officials

SAN FRANCISCO 21 July 2025 — The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, represented by Deputy Consul General Maria Paz G. Cortes and Assistance-to-Nationals Officer Bernice Santayana, met ICE Officials led by Assistant Field Office Director (AFOD) Remely Dela Paz and Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer (SDDO) Jaime Burns at the Northwest ICE Processing Center (NWIPC) in Tacoma, Washington on 10 July 2025.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance the working relationship between the Consulate’s Assistance-to-Nationals team and the ICE officials in order to facilitate the timely receipt of information regarding cases of detention of Filipino nationals at the said ICE facility, as well as to coordinate the provision of appropriate assistance to the detainees.

As part of its mandate to ensure the welfare and protect the rights of overseas Filipinos under its jurisdiction, the Consulate representatives also conducted a two-day onsite welfare check on the Filipino detainees at the NWIPC from 10-11 July 2025. END
