Philippine Embassy, MWO-Jordan Bolster Support for Non-marital Filipino Children in Amman Orphanage

AMMAN 04 August 2025 — Representatives from the Philippine Embassy in Amman and the Migrant Workers’ Office-Jordan, led by Mme. Geraldine C. Lucero-Santos and Assistant Labor Attaché Jaybee John Vincent Baginda, respectively, visited the Al Hussein Social Center for Orphans on 30 July 2025 in Amman, Jordan.

Dr. Sana Al-Nuaimat, Director in the Orphanage, together with other welfare officers in the facility, welcomed the quarterly visit as an excellent opportunity to discuss between the Embassy, MWO-Jordan, and orphanage officials the updates on the non-marital Filipino children currently under the custody and care of the facility, as well as updates on the cases of the their Filipino mothers – who are either detained at the Juweidah Women’s Correctional Facility in Amman or on bail while preparing for the completion of required marriage documents in order to release their children from the orphanage.

Towards the end of the visit, Embassy and MWO-Jordan representatives shared hugs and laughter with the young Filipino children.  MWO-Jordan also donated diapers, wet wipes, tissue papers, milk drinks in tetra packs, and toys for the children which were well-received by the orphanage officials.  

ATN Officer Charisse F. Malabanan, ATN and Consular Assistant Mariella S. Masiglat-Balla, Welfare Officer Rosalin R. Lavin, Translator Laith Omar Al Haj, and Filipino Priest Gerald Metal joined Mme. Lucero-Santos and ALA Baginda during the visit. END
