01 August 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles held a mini-exhibit at the Consulate General’s community hall from July 21 to 25 in celebration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Apolinario Mabini and the 36th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week.
The mini-exhibit featured articles about Apolinario Mabini entitled, “The Brains of the Philippine Revolution” and the “Sublime Paralytic.” Also featured was an exhibit in celebration of the 36th National Disability Prevention Week featuring few profiles of Estelita Guinto Juco, Maria Gila Quintua-Nakahara and Fe Buangin Carranza, who despite their disabilities have built successful careers and were honored for their achievements and contributions.
The Consulate General joined the Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) and the Seniors 4 Pilipino Americans Community Empowerment (S4PACE) to celebrate the 73rd USAFFE Day and mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Apolinario Mabini. Organized by JFAV Coordinator Arturo Garcia, this event was attended by Filipino-American World War II veterans held at the Hall of the Filipino American Community of Los Angeles (FACLA) on July 26.
