01 August 2014 - As part of the celebration of the 116th Philippine Independence Day, the Filipinos in China (FINCH), the Filipino community organization based in Quanzhou City, held a Bowling Tournament on June 22. At least 200 Filipinos from Quanzhou, Shishi, Fuzhou and Xiamen cities participated in the event that coincided with the oath-taking ceremony of the new set of officers of FINCH for 2014-2016.
The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen, headed by Philippine Consul General Julius Ceasar A. Flores, extended its full support to the event with some of its personnel joining the tournament. In his remarks, Consul General Flores expressed appreciation to FINCH as a catalyst in bringing together Filipinos from all over Fujian, thereby forging unity, friendship and camaraderie among the participants and their friends. He also appealed to all Filipinos in Fujian to be always mindful of local laws, in view of the increasing number of cases involving overstaying and drug-related offenses. END
