04 August 2014 – The Philippine Consulate in Vancouver conducted a Consular Outreach Program to service Filipinos in Calgary, Alberta from July 15 to 17 held at the Calgary Police Services Headquarters and in Edmonton, Alberta from July 19 to 21 held at the Coast Plaza Hotel.

 

A total of 1,603 Consular Services were rendered which included 1,408 for e-Passport processing, 111 for notarials, 23 for civil registry, and 61 for oath-taking of dual  citizenship.

 

The team also accepted 626 application for registration/certification for the purpose of overseas voting.

 

The members of the Consular team that conducted the program included Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer, Consul Melanie Diano, Ms. Lucelyn Gumabay, Ms. Ma. Adora Cruz, Mr. Vincent John Ruiz and Mr. Paulino Paco.

 

During the outreach, Philippine Consul General Ferrer met with the Chief of Calgary Police Service Mr. Rick Hanson on July 17. He thanked Chief Hanson for providing a free venue for the consular outreach in Calgary and for the invaluable assistance of the Calgary Police Service to Filipino communities affected by the flooding in Alberta in 2013 and Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda.

 

On July 22, Consul General Ferrer also met with Mr. Len Jillard, Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer of McDonald’s Canada, to discuss the impact of the moratorium and recent changes to the temporary foreign worker program on Filipino workers in McDonald’s restaurants across Canada. END
