07 August 2014 - Filipino teen Nathan John Torento (middle) with Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Antonio A. Morales (right) proudly represented the Philippines as one of the finalists of the 2nd Steinway Regional Finals Asia Pacific held on July 26 at the Yong Siew Tong Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore. Mr. Sorento joined other finalists from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan. Organized by Steinway Gallery Singapore, the competition provides a platform for young pianists to gain experience and insights from international artists. The winner of the concert will represent the Asia Pacific for the International Steinway Festival in Germany this September. The first prize went to South Korea’s Chow Won Kim while Vietnam’s Do Hoang Linh came in second. The third prize was shared by Kant Kosortrakul of Thailand and Singapore’s Nicole Tay Wan Ni who also bagged the audience prize. END
