11 August 2014 - On August 7, Philippine Consul General Jose D.R. Burgos paid a courtesy call on Sriwijaya Air Manado District Manger Achmad Teranggono to discuss ongoing preparations for the launch of Manado-Davao-Manado directs flight by Sriwijaya Air by late August 2014.

During the courtesy call, the Consul General took the opportunity to inform Mr. Teranggono of the efforts of the Consulate General and the North Sulawesi-Mindanao Business Council (NORSULMIN) to jumpstart Davao-Manado direct flights, including the chartering of Sriwijaya Air on August 26 and August 28 for the upcoming visit of the Davao Business Delegation to Manado City led by the Davao Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCCI) and Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA). The upcoming chartered flight will also survey interested travelers from North Sulawesi, including local government, business community, academe, Filipino community and the general public.

Prior to the launch of the said flight, the Consul General suggested that Sriwijaya hold a press conference to include the Governor of North Sulawesi, travel agencies and the North Sulawesi Press Corps, in order to disseminate knowledge of the Davao-Manado-Davao flight to the general public as well as maintain its long-term sustainability. Mr. Teranggono indicated that such a meeting may also include the CEO and/or Board of Directors or Sriwijaya Air. Also, the Consul General suggested that Sriwijaya could put up advertisements through print, radio, newspaper and billboards, on the upcoming direct flight. END
