13 August 2014 - The Philippine Embassy in Madrid received a donation of various types of medicines from the Cofares Foundation for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan on July 24. Prior to the turn-over, Philippine Ambassador to Spain Carlos C. Salinas, accompanied by First Secretary Gerardo P. Abiog, met with Cofares President Carlos González Bosch, Vice President Félix Martínez López-Brea and Cofares Foundation Manager Beatriz Escudero.
Also present, during the turn-over ceremony was Mr. Patapong Na Nakorn, General Manager of Thai Airways-Spain. Thai Airways provided a special air freight rate for the shipment of the medicines to Manila.
Embassy officials were also given a tour of the Cofares automated warehouse and distribution facility.
Cofares is an organization of about 9,000 pharmacists and distributes medicines and other health products to about 400 pharmacies all over Spain. END
