18 August 2014 – The Philippine Consulate General in Manado headed by Consul General Jose D.R. Burgos attended the commencement parade of the Tomohon International Flower Festival (TIFF) 2014, held in Tomohon City, North Sulawesi on August 8. The event was organized in cooperation with BNI, Bank Sulut, Office of the Mayor of Tomohon City and Office of the Governor of North Sulawesi, and was attended by various local and national government officials, foreign dignitaries, business and private sector, the media and the general public.

The Tomohon International Flower Festival 2014 aims to promote tourism, trade, investment and agriculture between Tomohon City and the Regional Government of Sulawesi composed of Cities and Regencies in Eastern Indonesia and foreign countries. Thousands of spectators, including Indonesian national and local government officials and foreign diplomats were present for the parade, which featured various locally-grown flowers.

During the parade, the Philippine float was displayed alongside other foreign participants, including the United States, France, Russia, Hong-Kong and Thailand. Various local government units, government agencies, business and private sector groups, and local non-government organizations (NGOs) also had floats made of flowers. END
