22 August 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago successfully conducted its consular outreach in Maplewood, Minnesota on August 16.  The consular outreach team was composed of Vice Consul Ricarte Abejuela III, Mr. Alvar Rosales, Mr. Cornelio Santiago, Mr. Arneil Torres, Mr. Sheridan Sabeniano, Ms. Rachel Bumanglag and Ms. Maria Victoria Rivera.

 

The outreach was conducted at the Philippine Center of Minnesota at 1380 Frost Ave. Maplewood, MN, 55109 

 

The consular outreach team processed a total of 211 passport applications, 33 citizenship reacquisition petitions, 20 reports of marriage, 19 documents, 19 reports of birth.  The team also enrolled 134 new registrants for overseas voting.  The Fil-Minnesotan Association (FMA) assisted the consular team in the one-day activity. 

 

Filipinos who availed themselves of the services expressed gratitude to the Consulate General for conducting the consular outreach, stating that it saved them time and money.  They also indicated that it helped older Filipino applicants and those from the Dakotas who would find it difficult to travel all the way to Chicago.  There are around 15,000 Filipinos living in Minnesota.
