26 August 2014 – In celebration of the 47thanniversary of the foundation of ASEAN, the ASEAN Committee in Santiago (ACS) held an ASEAN flag-raising ceremony on August 8 at the Embassy of Vietnam in Santiago, Chile.
The celebration was attended by the heads of ASEAN Missions represented in Santiago, together with their officers and staff, officials from Chile’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the diplomatic corps, and other guests.
The program commenced with the hoisting of the ASEAN flag and singing of the ASEAN Anthem. As host, Vietnamese Ambassador Ha Thi Ngoc delivered remarks focusing on the accomplishment of ASEAN throughout the years, highlighting the organization’s contribution to peace, security and stability in the region.
The simple ceremony closed with a reception featuring food from ASEAN Member States represented in Santiago. END
