27 August 2014 - The Philippine Delegation, headed by Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia, highlighted the Philippine Government’s achievements in the field of social development during the Third Session of the Committee on Social Development (CSD3) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) which was held from August 18 to 20 in Bangkok.
CSD3 reviewed social development trends and challenges in the context of the development agenda beyond 2015 and considered the issues of gender equality and women empowerment in preparation for the 20th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action of the 4th World Conference on Women, among others.
The other members of the Philippine Delegation were Philippine Commission on Women Executive Director Emmeline Verzosa and Planning Officer IV Maecel Angelica Cayanan, National Economic and Development Authority Regional Director Mayla Faye Cariño, Miriam College Executive Director and Philippine Representative to the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC), the Philipppine Embassy’s Alternate Permanent Representatives to UNESCAP Princess Tomas-Tayao and Anna Marie Santos, Development Action fro Women network (DAWN) General Coordinator Josefa Francisco and Young Women Collective Coordinator Maria May-I Fabros.
