28 August 2014 - The Philippine Embassy in Madrid led the Filipino community in Spain in a campaign to support Team Gilas, the Philippine national basketball team competing in the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) World Cup 2014 which will be held from August 30 to September 14 in Spain.

Team Gilas belongs to Group B, along with Croatia, Argentina, Greece, Puerto Rico and Senegal.  These countries will be competing with each other in Sevilla to enter the semi-final round.

Prior to the FIBA World Cup elimination round on August 30, Team Gilas is scheduled to play in friendly games in Vitoria, San Sebastian and Guadalajara in Spain and Antibes in France.

The Embassy shared information on admissions and other details for both the friendly and elimination games. 

The Filipino community expressed enthusiasm in watching Team Gilas in action and in meeting the team. END
