29 August 2014 – The Philippine Embassy in Oslo conducted its first “Akyat Barko” mobile overseas voters registration in Oslahvn, Norway. The Embassy sent Mr. Samuel Fesalbon and Ms. Theresa Bantolo-Heikkila to Oslohavn on August 20 where they registered 60 Filipino workers working on board the MS Royal Princess, a vessel owned by Carnival plc and operated by Princess Cruises.

The Embassy intends to register more Filipino seafarers working aboard the vessels docking at Oslohavn. Most vessels traveling the Nordic region carry Filipino crew members.

The successful registration event could not have been possible without the cooperation of the Oslohavn authorities and the crew of the Royal Princess.

The Embassy encourages all citizens of the Philippines in Norway to register to be able to vote in the 2016 presidential and senatorial elections. END
