Brunei

Brunei 21 September 2014 - Governor Jose C. Alvarez and a delegation from the Provincial Government of Palawan conducted a one-day official visit to Brunei Darussalam on August 27.

The delegation met with Bruneian government and private sector officials to discuss regional connectivity projects and to establish a convergence mechanism for the government and private sectors of the Philippines and Brunei.

During the visit, Governor Alvarez paid courtesy calls on Yang Berhormat (YB) Pehin Dato Abdullah Bakar, Minister of Communications of Brunei Darussalam; YB Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin, Legislative Council member; and Philippine Ambassador Nestor Z. Ochoa.

The Palawan delegation held a meeting with the BIMP-EAGA Business Council (BEBC) at the International Convention Center (ICC), Brunei. Said meeting is a follow up to the first meeting between officials from the Palawan Provincial Government and BEBC held in Manila in May 2014.   

The Palawan Provincial Government delegation accompanying Governor Alvarez included Mr. Abraham Ibba, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member; Mr. Abdulnassar Abdutalip Jamero from the Muslim Council; Atty. Jefrie Sahagun, Adviser/Assistant to the Governor; Mr. Gil S. Acosta, Provincial Information Officer; and Ms. Rosanna C. Andong, Executive Assistant to the Governor.   

The Palawan Provincial Government is one of the local government units (LGUs) in the Philippines actively pursuing regional connectivity issues and projects within the BIMP-EAGA. END
