05 September 2014 – Philippine Ambassador to Nigeria Alex V. Lamadrid encouraged more robust trade and investment exchanges between the Philippines and Nigeria during the 4th EDMARK International Convention held in Lagos on June 28.
More than 6,000 EDMARK associates, dealers, and employees from all over Nigeria and other African countries filled the Vinning Memorial Hall in Lagos during the EDMARK International Convention. Also in attendance were officials from Lagos and other Nigerian States, CEO’s of Nigerian banks, service companies, and other business people.
Ambassador Lamadrid informed the delegates that the Philippines offers excellent opportunities for Nigerians wishing to explore trade and investment opportunities, particularly in the areas of health and wellness, beauty care, medical tourism, business process outsourcing, food and beverages, electronics and IT, and many other areas. He also encouraged Nigerians to enroll in Philippine educational institutions, which offer cost-effective world-class education.
Ambassador Lamadrid also conveyed appreciation to Nigeria and other countries for their valuable assistance to victims of the supertyphoon Haiyan/Yolanda, which hit the Philippines last year.
During the convention, EDMARK International Chairman and CEO Mr. Sam Low Ban Chai, and EDMARK Philippines CEO Engr. Ric Camaligan, disclosed the company’s future plans for the construction of an EDMARK City, as well as the erection of a City Mall in Ikeja, Lagos, which are envisioned to house a supermarket selling affordable imported food, cosmetic, health care and other products from the Philippines among other countries. The EDMARK officials informed the delegates that the land for the City Mall has been purchased and construction is expected to commence very soon.
