09 September 2014 – Philippine Consul General Marciano R. De Borja paid a courtesy call on Guam Chamber of Commerce President David Leddy on September 05 at the chamber’s offices in Hagatna, Guam.
During the meeting, Consul General De Borja and Mr. Leddy discussed a broad range of topics on how the Philippines and Guam could facilitate and promote more business and commercial opportunities for both Filipino and Guamanian companies.
Mr. Leddy explained that the Guam Chamber of Commerce is pursuing an initiative that will hopefully evolve into a regional business alliance that will allow the different business organizations in the Asia-Pacific region leverage their membership to reduce the costs of doing business.
Consul General De Borja also shared with Mr. Leddy that the Consulate General in Agana will be working toward bringing a Guam business mission to the Philippines before the end of the year, which hopefully will create opportunities for partnership and synergies for companies in the Philippines and Guam.
Both sides agreed to explore other avenues for cooperation, including how to facilitate travel for Filipino business people and professionals interested in visiting Guam.
Mr. Leddy presented Consul General De Borja with two sets of the current membership directory of the Guam Chamber of Commerce, which the latter said will be very useful for the Consulate General in identifying prospective Filipino partners for the chamber members.END
