15 September 2014 - In preparation for the visit of President Benigno S. Aquino III to Brussels from September 15 to 16, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson and Undersecretary Abigail F. Valte met with the Filipino community in Belgium on September 6. She was joined at the meeting by Philippine Ambassador to Belgium Victoria S Bataclan, other embassy officials and community leaders.  

Undersecretary Valte briefed those in attendance on the work style and priorities of the President for the country.  She also briefed the members of the community various issues and concerns, including the donations/aid extended to the victims of typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan, the overseas deployment and shortage of nurses in the Philippines, and the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).

President Aquino will meet with the Filipino community in Belgium and Luxembourg on the second day of his visit in Brussels on September 16 at the historic Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula. More than 500 are expected to attend the event. END
