15 September 2014 – Pag-IBIG Fund, in cooperation with the Philippine Embassy in Budapest, conducted a Financial Literacy Program for the Filipino community in Hungary on September 7. The program was conducted by no less than the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pag-ibig Atty. Darlene Marie B. Berberabe, who discussed Pag-IBIG Fund’s housing loans and savings programs. She was accompanied by Vice President for International Operations Group Amado Isabelo I. Dizon III. Information kits were also distributed to the participants.
CEO Berberabe encouraged the Filipino community to become members of Pag-IBIG Fund in order to avail of housing loans instead of spending for monthly rentals. She also urged them to set aside a portion of their hard-earned wages and open savings accounts with interest rates of 4% annually which are currently higher than those offered by the private banking sector and guaranteed by the Philippine government.
The visit to Hungary, the first by Pag-IBIG Fund, was well-attended and generated great interest among the participants, some of whom are married to foreigners. The briefing was held at the Philippine Embassy in Budapest and was conducted as part of the Embassy’s “Kapihan sa Pasuguan” information series. END
