16 September 2014 - Over 500 Filipinos working in Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, were able to apply for e-Passports when the Philippine Consulate General in Agana returned for its third consular outreach mission for 2014 on September 15. The consular outreach was held at the Multipurpose Center in the Susupe district of Saipan in cooperation with the United Filipino Organizations (UFO), the umbrella association of the Filipino community. The third consular mission to Saipan was the first one this year to be extended to five working days to accommodate 600 pre-processed applicants.
The consular team from Guam was able to process a total of 525 e-Passport applications for Filipinos in Saipan, extend the validity of 174 passports, and issue five travel documents. There were also 90 notarial/legalization services provided, along with 17 reports of birth and seven reports of marriage. Three former Filipinos also took their oath of allegiance to complete the requirements for their reacquisition of Filipino citizenship. Meanwhile, a total of 272 overseas voters were also registered during the consular mission.
The mission was successfully completed with the assistance of the United Filipino Organizations (UFO) led by its president, Ms. Maria Annamae Adaza. END
