17 September 2014 – The Philippine Embassy in Dhaka shifted its economic and cultural diplomacy efforts to high gear as it took part in the three-day Asian Tourism Fair (ATF) 2014 at Dhaka’s Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) from September 11 to 13.

As one of the featured speakers during the inaugural ceremony of the Fair, Chargé d’Affaires Mohd. Noordin Pendosina N. Lomondot invited everyone to experience having fun in the Philippines, to explore places spotted as the best in the world, landmarks listed as among nature’s wonders and a sealed guarantee of a rewarding place to visit and explore.

Following the program, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon toured the various exhibition booths at the fair. The Embassy personnel welcomed him at the Philippine booth and invited him to visit the country. Minister Menon was handed with tourism brochures and was also offered to taste biko, a Filipino delicacy that was given out to visitors at the Philippine booth.

On the second day of the Fair, the Embassy presented a Philippine cultural show where Filipino songs and dances were performed by members of the Filipino community.  [During the show, the Embassy took the opportunity to do a campaign for Vigan to be voted as one of the New Seven Wonders Cities.]

The cultural night was attended by tourism officials, businessmen and members of the International community. END
