17 September 2014 – Philippine Ambassador to Kenya Bayani V. Mangibin was received by the President Uhuru Kenyatta of the Republic of Kenya on September 9 at the State House where he presented his credentials.

At the solemn ceremony, Ambassador Mangibin presented to President Uhuru Kenyatta his Letter of Credence and the Letter of Recall of his predecessor, Ambassador Domingo D. Lucenario, Jr..  

In his presentation speech, Ambassador Mangibin conveyed the compliments of Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino, III to President Kenyatta and to the people of Kenya.

Ambassador Mangibin also said that “It is my earnest hope that I shall succeed in my endeavours to promote further the relations that exists between our two countries.”

In response, President Kenyatta also sent his warm greetings to President Aquino and the people of the Philippines and expressed confidence that the ties that bind Kenya and the Philippines will even be stronger in the years to come. 

Present during the ceremony were Foreign Affairs Secretary Amina Mohamed and other senior officials of the Ministry. Ambassador Mangibin was accompanied by Ms. Donna Celeste D. Feliciano-Gatmaytan, Second Secretary and Consul and Mr. Manuel P. Oira III, Protocol Officer and Attaché.

At the cocktail reception after the presentation of credentials, President Kenyatta acknowledged the leadership of the Philippines in many fields including the protection of its nationals in diaspora and expressed interest in learning from the Philippine experience.   Foreign Affairs Secretary Amina Mohamed also recognised the country’s efforts and welcomed Ambassador Mangibin’s request for a call on her to share the Philippine experience with Kenya among other issues of concern common to both countries.

Aside from the Philippines, the Ambassadors of Egypt, Sri Lanka, Israel, Sudan, Belgium, Spain, Norway, South Sudan and Austria presented their respective credentials. END
