18 September 2014 – Philippine Consul General Marciano R. De Borja in Agana called on Acting Attorney General Gilbert J. Birnbrich of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) during the former’s visit to Saipan from September 9 to 10.
The Consul General expressed gratitude to the office of the Attorney General of the CNMI for its cooperation and assistance to cases involving Filipinos in Saipan.
The Consul General discussed with CNMI Acting Attorney General Birnbrich some of the challenges faced by the Filipino community on Saipan following the closure of the Consulate General on the island in 2012. Consul General De Borja explained that at the moment the Philippine Consulate General in Agana intends to increase the frequency of its consular missions to Saipan to make up for the closure.
Also with the Consul General were United Filipino Organizations (UFO) president Maria Annamae Adaza, UFO secretary Mario Mayuga, Honorary Consul nominee Glicerio Arago, and Consul Mark Francis Hamoy. END
