18 September 2014 – Philippine Consul General Marciano R. De Borja called on the Senate President of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) Ralph DLG Torres during the former’s first visit to Saipan on September 9 to 10. Senator Torres expressed appreciation for the many positive contributions of Filipinos on Saipan to the local economy and the social and cultural life of the island.

The Consul General discussed possible areas of cooperation between the Philippines and the CNMI during his courtesy call on leaders from the House of Representatives. He was received by House Floor Leader Rafael S. Demapan, Representative Roman C. Benavente, chair of the education committee, and Representative Edmund S. Villagomez, chair of the commerce committee.
