23 September 2014 - To celebrate the 47th anniversary of ASEAN, the Philippine Embassy in Oslo, Norway in cooperation with the Embassies of Indonesia, Thailand and Viet Nam hosted an ASEAN Cultural Night on September 17 at the Storsalen Menighet.
Culinary delicacies were served by each Embassy. The Philippines provided pancit (Stir-fried noodles with chicken strips and vegetables) and adobong manok (stewed chicken in vinegar and soy sauce) along with Philippine mango juice.
In addition, numerous Philippine made products were displayed, ranging from clay sculptures, mother of pearl decorations, banigs (woven palm leaf mats), bags, along with “It’s more fun in the Philippines” tourism brochures.
The guests were also shown cultural performances from each country. The Philippines presented a collection of contemporary wear made from traditional Philippine fabrics, inspired by the classic textures and feel of Filipino clothing. The fashion pieces made from abaca, pina, hablon and Philippine silk were well received by the audience and were applauded throughout the show. The promotional video “It’s more fun in the Philippines” was also shown. END
