29 September 2014 - The Philippines participated in the 8th Asia Fruit Logistica which took place from September 03 to 05 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong. Exhibitors were DOLE Asia Co. Ltd,  Agrinurture Inc., and Nader & Ebrahim s/o Hassan Philippines, Inc. (NEH Phils.)

The Expo registered more than 478 exhibitors from 38 countries.  It also featured about 20 national pavilions from different countries. The Expo offered networking opportunities for the exhibitors and international buyers from the Asia produce trade.

During its press conference on September 01, the event organizer, Global Produce Events, provided the 2014 edition of the Asia Fruit Congress’ Statistics Handbook, which mapped out the export/ import trends and the balance of trade of fresh fruit and vegetables in 10 different Asian markets such as China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand. The Expo showcased the strength of agricultural produce of different countries and is an ideal venue to foster international business relationships.

The Philippine Consulate General which attended the opening of the Expo encourages major Philippine fruit producers and suppliers to actively participate in next year’s event in coordination with the Department of Agriculture. The presence of a Philippine pavilion will boost the country’s prominence in the global fruit and vegetable market. The event is also an opportunity for the producers, particularly of tropical fruits, to introduce the fresh fruit products our country has to offer to the world. END
