29 September 2014 – Philippine Honorary Consul General Wassim Nanaa hosted a simple breakfast meeting with the members of the Filipino community in Aleppo on September 13 at the Office of the Philippine Consulate General.

The meeting aims to reiterate the currently in place advisory to all Filipinos in Syria to avail of the Mandatory Repatriation Program (MRP) of the Philippine government.  Honorary Consul General Nanaa discussed to those who attended the meeting about the procedures on how to avail of the MRP. He also requested them to disseminate the repatriation program of the Philippine government to their Filipino friends who were not able to attend the meeting.

The Honorary Consul General has been a very active partner in the repatriation effort of the Philippine Embassy. Since the crisis started, the Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Aleppo has assisted the repatriation of 1, 301 Filipino nationals. According to Consul General Nanaa, an estimated 350 Filipino nationals are currently living in various secured areas of the Aleppo governorate.

With the MRP still in place, the Philippine Embassy is inviting the next-of-kin of Filipino workers who are still in Syria, particularly OFWs who are based in the governorate in Aleppo, to get in touch with our Philippine Consulate, and to provide information of their family member’s whereabouts so that immediate assistance can be extended to them, below are Aleppo PHCG’s address and contact details:
