30 September 2014 – The Philippine Embassy in Dhaka, guided by its mandate of protecting the welfare of Filipinos abroad, organized a seminar on September 26 to address the worldwide call for effective promotion of awareness of current global health issues.
The seminar was held with the belief that health hazard outbreaks like the Ebola virus, MERS-CoV, and the like are some of the issues today that need to reach people’s awareness through personal interaction, which is still the most effective way of information dissemination in this digital age.
The event was part of the Embassy’s gender awareness and development program and covered a briefing on Ebola virus, MERS-CoV, HIV/AIDS, common diseases in Bangladesh and first-aid measures. It was conducted by Mr. Erasto Brombuela, Mr. Teodolfo Clarete and Mr. Rolly Policarpio, Filipino licensed nurses who are working for a medical institution in Dhaka.
The seminar was well-attended by members of the Filipino community. At the end of the program, Philippine Ambassador to Bangaladesh Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo handed certificates and tokens of appreciation to the speakers. Everyone in the audience was also awarded with a certificate of attendance. END
