xiamen film

04 October 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen successfully held a special screening of the film “My House Husband: Ikaw Na!” on August 31 at the Bulwagang Bagumbayan (National Heroes Hall). A brief program preceded the film-showing.

Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores, in his opening remarks, stressed the importance of promoting Gender and Development (GAD) as a cornerstone of Philippine national development, especially among overseas Filipinos who needed to be made aware of GAD matters and issues. He expressed hope that the film would be able to help clarify some GAD issues to the Filipino community in Xiamen.

He also gave an overview of the movie, which focused on the gender roles of a husband and a wife in their own household as commonly perceived by society.

“My House Husband: Ikaw Na!” is a 2011 award-winning comedy drama film directed by Jose Javier Reyes and starring Judy Ann Santos, Ryan Agoncillo and Eugene Domingo. The movie won the Gender Sensitive Award in the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival, among other awards, and was also nominated for various categories in different award-giving bodies.

The film screening was attended by members of the Filipino communities in Xiamen, including the Filipino Association in Xiamen (FAX) and Filipino teachers from the Manila-Xiamen International School as well as Consulate General’s officers, staff and their family members.

Philippine Consulate General prepared a simple salu-salo for the participants after the film showing.  END
