04 October 2014 – Philippine Ambassador to Argentina Ma. Amelita C. Aquino was among the speakers during the awarding of the winners of the essay–writing contest on the Concept of Multiculturalism held on September 23 at the Argentine National Congress. The event was opened by Argentine National Deputy Julia Perie.
The event was organized by the Association of Spouses of Ambassadors Accredited in Argentina (ADEA), the Association of Diplomatic Friends (ADAD) and the communications organization Equilibrium Global as part of the celebration of the International Day of Peace.
Ambassador Aquino highlighted the cultural diversity of the Philippines and the country’s adocacy of interreligious dialogue, citing how this has contributed to the peace process in Mindanao.
The top prize winner of the essay contest was awarded to Luciano Salerno, a student of the Center of Oriendal Studies of the Universidad de Salvador with his entry entitled “Spanish in the Philippines - Identity and Colonialism.” END
