manama training

04 October 2014 – Training programs for distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) currently sheltered at the Migrant Workers and Other Overseas Filipinos Resource Center (MWOFRC) of the Philippine Embassy in Manama, Bahrain were held from June 29 to September 27.

Organized by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office-Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (POLO-OWWA), the training sessions on Gift Wrapping and Flower Arrangements were facilitated by Filipino volunteer trainers namely, Mr. Esmeraldo C. Baliber, Mr. Lito Go Culaban, Mr. Bernardino Cayanan, and Mr. Yani Jineta Garon. Training on Food Preparations was facilitated by Ms. Ma. Cecilia V. Morales, caterer and owner of a restaurant in Bahrain, and training on Computer Literacy were undertaken, was facilitated by Mr. Ian J. Ticarof OWWA.

Eight training sessions were conducted for Gift Wrapping and Flower Arrangement, which started on June 29 up to September 01. Five training sessions were held for Food Preparations, from August 29 to September 27, and two training sessions for Computer Literacy on June 28 and September 06.

A total of 30 wards who are temporary sheltered at the MWOFRC while waiting for the release of their exit clearances either for repatriation, or for transfer to new employers, benefited from the trainings.

A ceremony to close the training programs was held on September 28 at the Embassy. The 30 wards were awarded Certificates of Attendance and Completion. The trainors were also present at the closing ceremony. END
