07 October 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Osaka conducted a consular outreach on September 27 to 28 in Fukuoka City in the southern Japanese island of Kyushu in cooperation with the Filipinos and Friends in Fukuoka Association headed by its coordinator, Ms. Grace Tomita.

The Consulate General processed a total of 533 applications for consular services with 507 e-Passport applications and 26 notarial, authentication, Report of Birth, Report of Marriage and other miscellaneous services while 141 Filipinos registered for overseas voting.

Consultations were also conducted with regard to marriages, judicial recognition of divorce, and other concerns regarding consular documents.

Filipino community leaders from Fukuoka, Oita, Kumamoto and Nagasaki discussed various concerns with consular personnel.

The Consulate General intends to hold consular outreach missions two to three times a year in Kyushu, home to some 10,000 Filipinos; approximately 5,000 of them in Fukuoka, and in other cities on a rotational basis in Miyazaki, Kumamoto, Oita and Kagoshima.

The Consulate General’s outreach program seeks to reach out and bring its services to the 85,000 Filipinos in its consular district in Western Japan. Fukuoka is the sixth of nine consular outreach missions scheduled in 2014.  It is estimated that some 3,500 Filipinos will benefit from the program in 2014.

Outreach missions are scheduled in Nagoya on October 19, in Hiroshima on November 15, and in Kagoshima on December 6 and 7.

All Filipinos in Western Japan are invited to avail of the services of these outreach programs by following the "Gabay Sa Pagsumite ng Application sa Consular Outreach Mission" and the "Gabay sa Pre-Processing para sa Consular Outreach Mission" in the abovementioned website.

Applicants are encouraged to send their application forms and requirements directly to the Consulate by Japan Post Letterpack before the deadline indicated for the scheduled outreach mission.  END
