07 October 2014 – Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Catalino R. Dilem, Jr., accompanied by Cultural Officer Rosabelle Q. Toledo, visited the Escuela Secundaria Republica de Filipinas on October 03 in connection with the school´s 46th founding anniversary on October 20.
The school was named after the Philippines as an expression of gratitude to the Philippine government´s donation of equipment for the school´s chemistry laboratory in 1968.
The Ambassador had a meeting with school Director Mariano Reyes where they discussed the Embassy´s participation in the anniversary celebration. Director Reyes provided the proposed program and activities for that day. He also gave a tour around the school campus.
The Embassy´s presentation will consist of a parade of traditional Filipino costumes to be participated in by the Embassy staff and members of their families, arnis demonstration by Vice Consul Mikhal de Dios and an art workshop to be conducted by Filipino painter, Mr. Manuel D. Baldemor, who is now in Mexico for a painting exhibit in Acapulco on October 08 for the anniversary of the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade. END
