09 October 2014 - Philippine Ambassador to Nigeria Alex V. Lamadrid, called on the Dean of Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China (PROC) to Benin Republic Tao Weiguang and the Secretary and Chargé d’Affaires, Rev. Fr. Jan Thomas Limchua of the Apostolic Nunciature in Cotonou, on September 19.
Both Ambassador Tao Weiguang and Fr. Limchua, conveyed their sincere appreciation for Ambassador Lamadrid’s visit. They acknowledged that the visit is significant step in paving the way to strengthen the ties between the Philippine Embassy in Abuja and the Missions of China and the Apostolic Nunciature in Benin.
The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador Tao Weiguang encouraged the Philippines to engage in greater trade and investment with Benin.
For his part, Rev. Fr. Limchua, a Filipino priest from Cebu, expressed his willingness to support the activities of the Filipino community in Cotonou, Benin.
Ambassador Lamadrid expressed appreciation to the two high ranking officials, Ambassador Tao Weiguang and Rev. Father Limchua, for the time they accorded to him. He conveyed to both officials the Philippine Embassy’s desire to enhance the excellent relations with the two Missions in Cotonou, and looked forward to the meeting them again in the future. END
