10 October 2014 - Five international group of graduate fellows of the East-West Center’s (EWC) Asia-Pacific Leadership Program (APLP) paid a courtesy call on Philippine Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin on September 19 and exchanged views about Philippine economy, politics and climate change issue.

The EWC fellows were led by former Tarlac Vice-Governor and now APLP Graduate Fellow Pearl Angeli Pacada. The other fellows joining the courtesy call were  Daniel Estrobel from the US, Derensio Konman from Micronesia, Yosuke Suzuki from Japan and Mohammad Birglary from Iran.

The visit to the Philippine Consulate General was part of the Program’s requirements to dialogue with foreign missions in Hawaii on current relations between Hawaii and the Asia-Pacific region. Consul General Jamoralin briefed the scholars on the current state of play of Philippines-US relations, including the highlights of the recent visit of US President Barack Obama to the Philippines. The group also exchanged views on climate change and recent developments in the Middle East.
