13 October 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in New York and Seven Seven Corporate Group recently co-hosted a networking event for sourcing executives and decision makers from Wall Street and Fortune 500 firms in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

The event, held at the Philippine Center in Manhattan on September 25, attracted about 100 guests coming from various sectors such as banking and financial services, insurance, engineering, multinational consumer manufacturing, retail and distribution, telecommunications and media.

It marked the 5th time, since 2009, that the Philippine Consulate General and Seven Seven had jointly hosted the event to allow executives to have a casual get-together with their colleagues and exchange ideas on sourcing trends.

In his welcome remarks, Philippine Consul General Mario De Leon acknowledged the significant contribution of Seven Seven in the growth of business process management industry in the Philippines. Formed in 1996, the Filipino-American company was among the first US companies to source from the Philippines.

For 18 years now, Seven Seven has been providing world class services in information technology, including application development, IT infrastructure support, technical helpdesk, and back office processes for its various clients. Its business headquarters is in New Jersey while its primary delivery center is in Manila. Having started in Manila and New York, it has since expanded to support customers in North America, Asia Pacific and Europe in banking, insurance, global consumer, telecommunications, pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

Seven Seven Corporate Group President Mac Fojas and CEO Delle Sering are the moving force behind the company.

Consul General De Leon also briefed the audience about the continued remarkable performance of the business process management industry in the Philippines. Citing the latest report of the IT and Business Process Association Philippines, he highlighted that while the industry was only generating US$ 1.5 billion in revenues with 103,500 employees in 2004, it now directly employs 1 million Filipinos and it is expected to earn US$ 18 billion in 2014.  The industry also supports 2.5 additional jobs for each direct hire.

By 2016, the Philippine business process management industry is expected to expand even more with projected revenues of $25 billion and direct employment for 1.3 million people. By then, the industry will account for 7.8% of the Philippines’ gross domestic product, according to the report.

“The Philippines, now recognized as the number one provider of voice services, is determined to increase its market share for more sophisticated outsourced operations in such areas as financial services, software design, medical and legal transcription, animation and gaming,” Consul General De Leon added.

At the same event, former Philippine Special Trade Representative Ms. Josephine Romero, was formally introduced as Seven Seven’s new Senior Managing Director for Corporate Strategy and Front Office Sales.

Among the evening’s highlights was Seven Seven’s handing of a plaque of appreciation to outgoing Deputy Consul General Zaldy Patron who was cited for his leadership and active role in promoting the Philippine information technology and business process management industries during his six-year tour of duty in New York.
