15 October 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in Milan welcomed the delegates of Model ASEM 2014 on October 09. The project is aimed to support the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit and to promote Asia-Europe relations among young people of both regions.  The delegates came from Philippines, Italy, Indonesia, China, Germany, Luxembourg, Poland and Portugal.

Philippine Consul General Marichu Mauro briefed the 12 participants of Model ASEM 2014 on the daily functions of the Consulate General and its mandate to promote Philippine interests through the protection and enhancement of national security, economic diplomacy and the welfare of Filipinos abroad.  There was also an open forum which encouraged the participants to speak their mind about relevant international topics such as migration, ASEAN integration, and ASEAN-EU economic relations.

In her welcome remarks, Consul General Mauro urged the participants to “play a more active and more comprehensive role in their schools and communities because the actions of the young generation today will help define the next decades.”

Model ASEM 2014 was organized by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), together with the ASEF University Alumni Network (ASEFUAN) and the Politecnico de Milano School of Management, from October 08 to 11. END
