23 October 2014 - A consular team from the Philippine Embassy in Ankara provided mobile consular services to the Filipinos residing in Adana and Hatay from October 11 and 12.
Though they are fewer in number than Filipinos in Istanbul or Ankara, these Filipinos are farthest from the Philippine Embassy, as they live in the southeastern part of Turkey.
The Embassy team provided e-Passport renewal services, overseas voter registration and consular advice. The team also updated the Filipino communities in these two cities of contingency plans in case of emergencies. The mission resulted in 107 overseas voters registrations including 95 seafarers in nearby Mersin, and 5 e-Passport renewals. The team also visited the border crossing into Syria near Reyhanli in preparation for updating the Embassy’s contingency plans. They were assisted by Philippine Honorary Consul in Gaziantep Mr. Tamer Kabalcioğlu. (Photo courtesy of Ceferino Caldez) END
