28 October 2014 - Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Catalino R. Dilem, Jr. administered the oath of office to Philippine Honorary Consul Hector Mora Gomez in ceremonies held in the evening of October 17 at the CIA Restaurant located in the City of Manzanillo.

Consul Mora, a Mexican national, is the current president of Grupo Hemas and Puntos Cardinales,  companies which specialize in port operations and security.  He was also the former Port Director of the Port of Manzanillo as well as the Vice President of the US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce. 

During the oath taking ceremony, Ambassador Dilem said that with the designation of Honorary Consul Mora he hoped that the presence of the Philippines would be further enhanced in his areas of jurisdiction, specifically the States of Colima and Michoacan.

The municipal  president of the City of Manzanillo, Mr. Virgilio Mendoza Amezcua, attended the event and extended his warmest felicitation to Mr. Mora on his appointment as Honorary Consul. He assured the Philippine Ambassador and the Honorary Consul  that his administration will be a partner in all the projects that the Philippine government wishes to undertake in Manzanillo.

The message of the mayor was then followed by the oath of Honorary Consul Mora.   After his oath, the Philippine Ambassador placed a pin of the Philippine flag on the collar of his Guayabera, which is the the Mexican equivalent of the Barong Tagalog

The ceremony ended with the message of Consul Mora in which he welcomed the opportunity to represent the interests of the Philippines in the States of Colima and Michocan.  He vowed to serve not only the Philippines as a country but its citizens as well.

After the ceremony Consul Mora and his assistant were thoroughly briefed by Finance Officer Randy Hilot on the preparation of the monthly fiscal report. They were also provided with the contact details of Embassy personnel who can assist them with regards to specific matters concerning consular and administrative matters. END
