28 October 2014 - Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. and San Francisco Education Board Commissioner Hydra Mendoza-McDonnell installed a SAFE HAVEN sign on the façade of the Philippine Center on October 02. President of the Filipino American Law Enforcement Officers Association Brad Bautista, Deputy Consul General Jaime Ramon Ascalon and Police Liaison Officer Lyndon Cubos, also witnessed the installation.
SAFE HAVEN, a project of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA), is a national child safety awareness program aimed to prevent children from being a victim of street violence, bullying and traffic accidents. Offices and business establishments that place the yellow sign on their windows/façade will welcome any child in distress and agree to extend assistance such as calling the child’s parents for pick up, or in cases of emergency, calling 911.
