29 October 2014 - The Philippine Overseas Construction Board (POCB), headed by POCB Chairman Isidro A. Consunji, undertook an outbound mission to Myanmar from October 23 to 24.
The 19-member business delegation paid a courtesy call on Deputy Foreign Minister U Thant Kyaw on October 23 in Nay Pyi Taw. The courtesy call was followed by a briefing on business and investment opportunities in Myanmar organized by the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development which was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Telecommunications, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of National Planning (DICA), Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Labor, and Ministry of Hotel and Tourism.
On October 24, the business delegation paid a courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Alex G. Chua and met with the Union of Myanmar Federation Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), International Business Promotion Centre (IBPC), Myanmar Industries Association (MIA) and Myanmar Engineering Society (MES), in Yangon.
POCB, is tasked under Presidential Decree No. 1167, as amended by P.D. 1657, to formulate strategies to develop and regulate the overseas construction industry of the Philippines. The business delegation to Myanmar was composed of representatives from DMCI Holdings, Inc., Atlantic, Gulf & Pacific Company of Manila, Inc., D.M. Consunji, Inc., DMCI Project Developers, Inc., EEI Corporation, First Balfour, Makati Development Corporation, Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corporation, Meralco Industrial Services Corporation Builders, Inc., R.D. Interior Junior Construction, Romago, Inc., and Sta. Clara International Corporation. END
