30 October 2014 – Mrs. Miriam Ferrer, wife of Philippine Consul General in Vancouver Neil Frank Ferrer, hosted a traditional Filipino lunch for members of the Vancouver Consular Circle (VCC) at Max’s Restaurant on October 15. VCC is an organization of spouses of officers and staff of consulates in Vancouver.

The luncheon highlighted Filipino music and traditional food served at Max's Restaurant, the international Filipino chain founded in 1945 in the Philippines. Aside from Max’s signature fried chicken, the VCC ladies enjoyed other traditional Filipino dishes such as Sinigang na Hipon (shrimp in tamarind broth), Fish with Taro Leaves in coconut milk and Kare-Kare (Oxtail Peanut Stew). Leche Flan (caramel custard) was served for dessert to enjoy with coffee or tea.

The VCC members were also entertained with original Filipino and international music and with songs beautifully rendered by the Philippine Consulate General's Ms. Abigale Kristine Oira.

The event enabled members of the Vancouver Consular Circle to update each other about the latest developments and happenings in Vancouver and discuss future activities of the VCC. Everyone thanked Mrs. Ferrer for hosting the sumptuous gastronomic experience, a trademark of warm Filipino hospitality. END
